The Hollies - Concert Review

They just seem to get better and better!

A first class show full of energy and enthusiasm and well received by an apprecative Bath audience.

That is my opinion of the concert held in the plush Theatre Royal on Sunday February 29.

Carl, Tony, Bobby, Alan, Ray and Ian put in a first class performance and they certainly looked like they were enjoying playing.

There was excellent guitar sounds from Tony and Alan and I really did enjoy the electric sitar in 'The Baby'. Bobby was just like a work horse on drums and as usual fine performances were put in by Ray and Ian.

The harmonies were also spot on at this concert and I thought it was a particually powerful evenings performance by Carl especially during The Soldier and Blackberry Way. He certainly is a showman.

The use of a film screen at the back of the stage and cameras has given a new aspect to the concerts. It was a delight to be able to see close ups of Bobby and Tony on their respective instruments while the special effects on songs like 'Look Through Any Window' has added a new dimension to the shows.

The Bath audience were certaily left wanting more and I don't think I have ever seen a group receive such applause in the theatre at the finish of a show.

I did have one disappointment and that was that Alan did not perform 'Butterfly'. Its one of my favoutites but having said that,after a performance like we saw it didn't really matter.

I cannot finish without giving another mention to Ray. What a lead and performance he gave in 'Tiger Feet' during the encore. Absolutely brilliant!

As I said at the beginning they just get better and better. Thanks lads for a truly fantastic show. Come back to Bath soon, we might even help you find some parking spaces!!
